Sailing in Autumn - visiting Greece September - November

The warm climate in Greece allows for all year round sailing.

Do you dream of taking a romantic walk or exploring traditional little villages with white washed houses and get lost in the labyrinth of tiny cobblestone alleys? Or maybe try the islands' delicacies and local dishes at a traditional seaside taverna while admiring the sun setting over the Aegean sea? If this appeals to you but you don’t want to share it with a lot of people, then you might consider visiting in the autumn, September-mid November.

This is probably the season to experience the best of the islands. Perfect temperatures (warm, but not too hot) for those that love swimming but also exploring the islands and their archaeological sites without getting a sunstroke.

• Crowds return home - no more loud parties lasting until the early hours of the morning.
• Local life.
• Authentic experiences. After mid October our guests have a chance to see the best of the countryside. This is when the locals press grapes to make wine, harvest the olive trees for that delicious olive oil, gather fruits and make jam and produce traditional drinks (like tsipouro and raki).

• Unique natural environments.
• Dinners at traditional seaside tavernas.
• Jumping off the boat at an isolated bay - no other people around - alone in your very own small piece of paradise.
• The best sunsets - the cirrus clouds which sometimes cover the horizon make spectacular sunsets.
• Competitively priced services.

The drawbacks:

• The days are shorter.
• There might be some rain from November on. Although this should actually be seen as an advantage, because the islands get greener and greener after each rainfall - in autumn the nature comes back to life after the hot summer drought.
